The Sudan Powerboat Federation has achieved an important milestone on the international stage following the unanimous approval of its membership in the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) during the 99th UIM General Assembly, held in Sintra, Portugal, in October 2026.

The approval marks the successful completion of an important stage in Sudan’s journey toward international recognition in powerboat racing. Earlier in 2026, the UIM Council approved the Sudan Powerboat Federation as a Corresponding Member, with the membership subsequently presented to the General Assembly for ratification.

This achievement represents a significant step forward for the development of powerboat racing in Sudan and strengthens the country’s presence within the international powerboating community.

The Federation will now focus on developing the sport at the national level, strengthening its administrative and technical structure, supporting Sudanese drivers in international competitions, and developing qualified officials, scrutineers, safety and rescue personnel in accordance with UIM standards.

The Federation is also working toward the development of international powerboat events in Sudan, with preparations for future racing activities in Khartoum and Port Sudan, subject to the required UIM approvals and technical requirements.

Looking Ahead to Full Membership

The unanimous approval of Sudan’s membership represents the beginning of a new phase.

During 2027, the Sudan Powerboat Federation intends to continue strengthening its sporting, technical and organizational capabilities while working toward fulfilling the requirements for future progression to UIM National Authority / Full Membership, in accordance with UIM regulations and procedures.

Achieving Full Membership would represent another major milestone for Sudan, further strengthening its role and representation within international powerboating.
