During the 2026 Formula 4 Powerboat World Championship finals in Viverone, Italy, Ahmed Al Tahir, representing Black Pharaoh Team, met with UIM President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli for a discussion focused on the future development of powerboat racing in Sudan.
The meeting highlighted Sudan’s growing presence in the sport and the efforts underway to establish a structured and sustainable framework for powerboat racing in the country, including the development of the Sudan Powerboat Federation.
The discussion explored opportunities to further develop the sport in Sudan, support local talent, and create a pathway for Sudanese racers to compete at the international level.
Soon after, the Sudan Powerboat Racing & Formula 4 Federation received support from the UIM Council, with the newly established federation granted UIM Corresponding Membership status, subject to ratification by UIM Members at the 99th UIM General Assembly in Portugal.
The development represents an important step in establishing an official structure for powerboat racing in Sudan and strengthening the country’s presence within the international powerboat community.
The meeting in Viverone and the subsequent UIM support mark an important chapter in the ongoing efforts to build the foundations of the sport in Sudan — both on the water and through the development of a formal national federation.
